Tibetan & Chinese Canadian Community Dialogue (TCCCD)
Our Statement of Principles
Our shared commitment to Human Rights and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and our common interest in promoting harmony and respect has spurred us to explore ways in which our two communities could work together to promote understanding and goodwill.
We believe that universal values such as mutual respect, non-violence and peaceful co-existence can be further promoted through inter-community dialogue. Community dialogue is an effective means to build trust, friendship and understanding among Tibetan and Chinese Canadian communities. Through greater community interaction, we can work together to build peace, friendship and identify solutions to various issues affecting both communities.
We propose to move forward in the following manner:
1. Foster closer relationships built on mutual respect, understanding and trust through joint cultural exchanges and community events;
2. Promote awareness on inter-community issues such as settlement, advocacy and social activism;
3. Promote academic research and discussion on Tibetan-Chinese issues involving scholars, and educational institutions; and
4. Provide a platform for formal and informal dialogue between our communities, youths and all sectors of Canadian society
We the undersigned agree to help build this dialogue process:
